University Athletics

If you have ever had a dream (or at least saw a character on television who had a dream) then you surely understand the ambition that lies in the heart of a college athlete. Like high school events and just like the masters, college university athletics are dedicated to their sport. University athletics feature students who excel in running sports like sprints, middle and long distance races, steeplechase races and cross country, or popular field events like the shot put, javelin throw, hammer throw and discus throw.

Developing University Athletics

University athletics involves young and eager athletes who could be easily exploited. In fact, some people believe college athletes are exploited at least in terms of profit sharing. (More on this in a moment) However, to protect university athletics participants against physical or career exploitation institutions like the USATF (The United States Track And Field) get involved on a local, state and national level. The USATF acts as the governing body of track and field in the US and work as much as possible with all levels of coaching and management to ensure the best opportunities for college athletes.

University Athletics Online

Many universities now have a strong online presence, and not surprisingly since university sports is becoming increasingly popular. For example, the University Of Arizona Athletics featured an in depth page tracking Arizona state University Athletics game results and keeping current with news related to the university's sports programs. The University Of Kentucky Athletics also gives a detailed look at the sport in Kentucky, offering information on tickets, traditions, as well as camps. The Western Michigan University Athletics calls itself the Bronco Insider and gives users detailed coverage of all the university's games including soccer, football, baseball and tennis as well as the University Of Michigan Athletics track and field. The Michigan State University Athletics also offers a photo page giving visitors the chance to meet athletes and coaches.

Other notable universities include the University Of Tennessee Athletics, the University Of Florida Athletics, the Auburn University Of Athletics, the University Of Toledo Athletics, the University Of Wyoming Athletics, the Vanderbilt University Athletics, the University Of Louisville Athletics, the Western Kentucky University Of Athletics and the Purdue University Of Athletics.

Ethics Of University And College Athletics

But speaking of exploitation, is it fair that college and university athletes do not paid? Since college sports generate millions of dollars in profit for institutions many have questioned the ethics of colleges and universities not giving money to university students. However unfair this may be, remember though that there are injustices on the other side, with some underachieving college students being allowed entry into a prestigious school based only on athletic talent.

The University athletics system is not perfect but organizations like the USATF monitor track and field games, while other competitive sports players (such as football or baseball) slowly but surely earn a reputation for the professional leagues. Everyone's happy it seems, especially the spectators
